IP Network & Internet Connectivity

Voice over the Internet (i.e. VoIP) utilizes the Internet to carry  VoIP calls from one caller to another by transmitting  VoIP data packets. The ability to handle a set of simultaneous VoIP calls and the quality of those VoIP calls are dependent on  the amount of available Internet bandwidth you have on your  connection.  A single VoIP call requires bandwidth ranging from 32 Kbps  to  80 Kbps

To explain this a little more clearly, here are some examples of typical Internet bandwidth usage needed to make VoIP calls:
