Solution Guide for Telehealth Collaboration

Demand for innovative audiovisual collaboration options in healthcare has accelerated dramatically in 2020.

VSGi is your AV integration partner for transforming patient experiences, dramatically increasing operational efficiencies, and staying competitive in the rapidly changing COVID-19 environment.

Accelerating demand, tough challenges, and new opportunities

VSGi deploys innovative audio visual technologies to help forward-thinking healthcare organizations thrive in today’s rapidly changing telehealth landscape. Three key trends are driving the telehealth technology market right now: increasing adoption, complex integration challenges, and exceptional opportunities for transforming patient experiences and workflow efficiencies.

Telehealth Session

Unprecedented telehealth and video conferencing adoption growth
In 2020, more than 70% of in-person healthcare visits were canceled. Providers reported 50-175X increases in the number of telehealth sessions.1 In 2019, only 11% of patients surveyed used telehealth services, but today 76% of patients are interested in using telehealth going forward and 64% of providers say they are comfortable using the technology now.2  On the business side, adoption of video conferencing also accelerated. In May 2020 more than 100 million Americans used online collaboration platforms, a 322% increase over 2019. Collaboration platforms have now reached 41% of the total US internet audience. As familiarity with video conferencing grows, expect to see increasing expectations for convenient virtual consultations among patients.

Growing telehealth and collaboration integration challenges
The COVID crisis magnified the gaps in many organizations’ telehealth strategies. Exigent response to patient needs forced many organizations to set up tactical point solutions with limited integration into their existing workflows and systems. For others, unforeseen strategy and workflow changes are forcing the reevaluation of their existing and new technology roadmaps. VSGi specializes in designing, integrating, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade audio visual solutions to support both your clinical and business collaboration needs.

Telehealth strategy and direction

Emerging opportunities for healthcare organizations
The COVID-19 crisis forced millions of Americans to try video conferencing – for virtual doctor visits, for working at home, and even for connecting with friends and family. This new comfort level with the technology and increasing preference for the convenience and efficiency of remote collaboration opens the door to an array of new care delivery options. McKinsey analysts estimate that at least $250 billion in healthcare spending could be virtualized over the next few years: 3

  • Virtual urgent care – 20% of emergency department visits
  • Virtual office visits – 24% of physicians’ office and outpatient visits
  • Near virtual office visits – 9% of physicians’ office and outpatient visits
  • Virtual home health services – 35% of services
  • Tech-enabled home medication – 2% of physicians’ office and outpatient visits

VSGi helps organizations identify opportunities and plan their technology adoption and integration roadmaps for these new virtual and hybrid physical/virtual patient experiences.
